Admission Requirements:

Undergraduate Studies:

Applicants seeking admission into any first-degree program must meet the general and specific departmental entry requirements. Ensure you fulfill all conditions before applying.

General Admission Requirements:

  • Minimum age: 16 years.
  • Candidates must pass the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME and meet the required cut-off mark.
  • A minimum of five (5) credit passes in SSCE/WASC/GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent, including English and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two sittings.

For specific programs like B. Agriculture, candidates must have credits in subjects such as Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, Physics, and English Language.

Transfer Candidates:

Students wishing to transfer from other universities must:

  • Complete the prescribed application form, available at the University Registry.
  • Meet the university’s general entry requirements and specific departmental requirements.
  • Ensure their academic transcripts and other reports are submitted to the university’s admission office.

Change of Course/Department:

If a student doesn’t meet the criteria for their initially admitted department, they may apply for a change to another department, provided they meet that department’s entry requirements.

Probation and Withdrawal:

Students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.00 at the end of an academic year will be placed on probation for one year. If the required CGPA is not met after the probation period, the student will be required to withdraw for a year before reapplying for admission.

Graduation Requirements:

To graduate, students must complete a required number of credit units:

  • 120 credit units for a four-year program.
  • 150 credit units for a five-year program.
  • 180 credit units for a six-year program.
    Additionally, students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 1.00 (or 2.00 for certain programs, e.g., Doctor of Veterinary Medicine).

Direct Entry:

Candidates with relevant qualifications like OND, HND, or NCE can apply for direct entry into higher levels (200 or 300 level) depending on the specific qualification.

Pre-degree Programmes:

Applicants for pre-degree programs should possess at least five ‘O’ Level credits, including English and Mathematics.

Postgraduate Programmes:

  • Postgraduate Diploma: Available for candidates with a third-class bachelor’s degree or an HND at Distinction or Upper Credit level.
  • Master’s Degree: Available for candidates with at least a second-class upper bachelor’s degree or those with a third-class degree and a relevant postgraduate diploma.
  • PhD Degree: Available for candidates with a first-class bachelor’s degree or a Master’s Degree with a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 5-point scale.
